Volvo Padel Open Returns to Crown Malaysia’s Ultimate Padel Community

Volvo Car Malaysia is taking the nation’s fastest-growing racket sport to new heights with the return of the Volvo Padel Open 2026. Returning this October for its milestone third edition, Malaysia’s most anticipated padel tournament is bigger and bolder than ever – introducing dynamic new match formats, expanded skill tiers, and an ambitious goal to welcome more than 600 players.

In a landmark first, the 2026 edition shifts the spotlight entirely toward grassroots culture, elevating the very communities driving padel’s exponential surge across Malaysia to the main stage. Moving beyond a standard individual tournament format, this year’s theme champions the collective spirit of local clubs. These are the dedicated collectives whose daily court sessions, social matches, and shared rallies have transformed a niche racket sport into a thriving, nationwide lifestyle movement.

Patricia Yaw, Marketing Operations & Public Relations Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, shared: “This third edition is incredibly meaningful as padel continues to grow into such a popular sport in Malaysia. At the height of our Asian Games success, we came across an interview with an athlete whose journey in padel began at the Volvo Padel Open. Hearing that served as a great reminder of our original intention back in 2023 to keep elevating the sport. This year, we are doing it through the local communities, because they are the true grassroots heartbeat driving this growth.”

Taking centre stage on 23 – 25 October, eight premier padel communities will rally their finest players to collide on court in a high-stakes, friendly rivalry for coveted prizes and the ultimate community crown. Stepping up to carry their club colours into the arena are All’Bout Padel, Baby Buaya Posse, Jerung Padel Club, Kelab Padel Pop x ABBT, Padé x LGK, Padel Hood, Padel Pushers x APC, and Wolfpack Padel.

Padel’s Growth in Malaysia
Padel’s trajectory in Malaysia has been nothing short of explosive. What started as a casual weekend activity has rapidly evolved into a fiercely competitive arena, cemented by the country's recent medal-winning success on the international stage. As the local talent pool deepens, community-driven tournaments have become critical proving grounds for the next generation of athletes.

Shafique Iqbal, President of the Selangor Padel Association (SPA), said: "When padel arrived in Malaysia, few of us imagined seeing a Malaysian pair on an Asian Games podium. Now, we have a historic silver in Nagoya. The next step is finding and developing the players who come after them. Tournaments like the Volvo Padel Open matter because they give players at every level real competition, and that is where the future of Malaysian padel starts."

Sanctioned by the Selangor Padel Association (SPA), the Volvo Padel Open 2026 turns a grassroots competition into a full lifestyle event. The tournament is proudly organised in partnership with media agency Invictus Blue, mobile network innovator redONE, and Spanish padel brand Tactical Padel. The event is further supported by digital agency Dox Digital, skincare brand SKINTIFIC, coffee brand NESCAFÉ GOLD, Padé Langkawi, and production house Directors Think Tank.

Farid Yunos of redONE Malaysia, shared: “Sports has always had the unique pull to bring people together. Padel, with its emphasis on community play, reflects what we value at redONE, which is connection. Supporting the Volvo Padel Open allows us to be part of moments on and off the court, in losses and victories. We’re excited to help connect padel communities nationwide and see the tournament grow into something bigger year on year.”

Jerome Dubuc of Tactical Padel, shared: "From the earliest days of padel in Malaysia, Tactical Padel has been part of its evolution. What began as a growing community is now a dynamic sporting culture. We believe padel is where performance and style meet precision, making the right equipment a true extension of how you play. That is why we remain uncompromising in quality and design. Our partnership with the Volvo Padel Open reflects a shared ambition: bringing together exceptional competition, ambitious players, and a commitment to Malaysian padel."

Chan Kok Heo, Sales Director of SKINTIFIC shared: “For most players, the preparation and recovery is just as important as their time on the court. We teamed up with the Volvo Padel Open because we view skincare as a standard part of that active routine. Padel is a demanding sport, and we just want to make sure players feel completely comfortable, so their only focus is to put their best foot forward.”

Khoo Sui Ying, Consumer Marketing Manager of NESCAFÉ shared: “Every great match starts with a moment of preparation. NESCAFÉ GOLD is about inspiring purposeful pauses that help people recharge, recentre, and perform at their best. Through our partnership with the Volvo Padel Open, we're bringing a premium, crafted coffee experience before the first serve.”

Volvo Padel Open 2026
To ensure fair, competitive rallies for both recreational newcomers and elite competitors, the Volvo Padel Open 2026 features five balanced skill tiers across Men’s and Women’s divisions:

Low Bronze (Men & Women)
High Bronze (Men & Women)
Low Silver (Men & Women)
Mid Silver (Men & Women)
Gold (Men & Women)

Entry fees are standardised at RM200 per player or RM400 per team across all categories. Highlighting the tournament's community-first approach, the categories serve as exclusive battlegrounds for the eight participating padel communities, who will each nominate a formidable roster of 40 players to represent them. While players in the Silver and Gold tiers are registered directly through their respective clubs, entry-level Bronze participants earned their spot by qualifying through dedicated community play-in rounds.
